Is handmade ceramic pottery safe in the microwave and dishwasher?
I just painted a ceramic mug at a pottery-painting shop called Bee's Knees. I forgot to ask them this question, and the only thing I know about the mug is that it will be glazed and then put in a high-temp kiln. I am supposed to pick it up in a week.
Does anyone have any idea if those small pottery-painting shops typically use materials and techniques that make their pieces safe for microwaves and dishwashers? Or even safe for food at all?
I want to use my mug for soup and hot cocoa, by the way.

I have just got a lot of stuff that is very chunky, but I am concerned about the glaze - will it get damaged?
